Dar Salaam (Place of Peace)

“Dar Salaam (Place of Peace)”, was inspired by my trip to the Kedougou region in the Southeast side of Senegal, West Africa in 2018. It is about the people’s living condition in a small village. In spite of the primitive lives and the difficult living condition they have, the people I met in the village were calm, hard-working, creative, and content. I saw many smiles of the people who try to live each day with hope and strength to move forward. They accept their living conditions and live with what they have. They knew what was enough to make them happy and feel at peace.  This made me think of what real wealth and happiness are. I want to express their strength and beauty of their smiles in my work.
